These two stones say they have work to do together, so I have combined them in a one-of-a-kind pendant.
The stone on the top is a fabulous Rainbow Obsidian carved heart. The heart is created by skilled artisans who must use their knowledge of the material to properly orient the cuts to reveal the rainbow pattern. Obsidian can contain small bubbles of air that are aligned along layers created as the molten rock was flowing just before being cooled. These bubbles can produce interesting effects such as the rainbow sheen seen in this pendant. Rainbow Obsidian is magical to me. it changes character with your movement and the light, sometimes appearing almost completely black, and other times the full vibrant colors of the rainbow heart are brilliantly revealed.
The stone on the bottom is an exquisite Namibian Blue Pietersite. Pietersite, an exotic looking variety of tigereye, is a mysterious stone blending chatoyant colors of browns, golds, reds, and blues. Like other chatoyant stones this piece seems to be alive as it changes character with movement and light. From Namibia this is a RARE gemstone. It is very difficult to capture the true magic of this stone in a photograph. You simply have to see it for yourself in order to truly appreciate its splendor.
To create this pendant, I hand selected these highly polished, skillfully carved cabochons and then sat down at my jeweler’s bench to "listen" to what the stones wanted to express. This design is the result of my "conversation" with these beautiful stone beings. I used high quality 14 KT gold-filled straight wire to lovingly embrace the stones.
This beautiful pendant measures 3-1/4" L and 1" W at the widest part of the design. The Rainbow Obsidian cabochon measures approximately 18mm x 15mm. The Pietersite cabochon measures 28mm x 26mm.

Rainbow Obsidian:
