Tiffany Stone (aka Opalized Fluorite, Opal Fluorite, Bertrandite, Ice Cream Opalite, Purple Opal) is considered to be one of the most scarce, beautiful and unusual stones in the world, this stone is found in only one very small area of beryllium mines in the Utah west desert where they mine beryllium (the 4th lightest element) for use in high-tech metallurgical uses. The mines are not open to the public for collecting and very little of this material makes it past the ore crusher used to extract the 1% to 2% beryllium contained in the opal tuff.

Tiffany Stone forms in "nodules" from the very small in size to 100+ pounds and is composed predominantly of opalized fluorite (blues, purples and whites), and often contains many other minerals such as quartz, dolomite, rhodonite, manganese, beryllium and other surprises. It often has a "crackled" appearance and is sometimes called "Tiffany Stone", "Bertrandite" "Purple Opal" or "Ice Cream Opalite", or "Opal Fluorite".

Each piece I create is an original, EXCLUSIVE design. No two pieces are ever identical. I let each stone guide me in the creative process as I lovingly craft a wire frame to securely embrace the stone. Then I take straight Sterling Silver (.925) Jeweler’s wire and create each turn and twist of decorative work with my hands and small jewelry pliers. T
